Southampton's main hospital has warned that wait times at its Emergency Department have reached 10 hours as the ward continues to face "extreme pressure".
University Hospital Southampton (UHS) has urged people to seek alternative care if their condition is not limb or life threatening.
A social media post at 10.53am said: "Our Emergency Department remains under extreme pressure.
"The current waiting time for non life-threatening conditions is up to 10 hours to be seen.
"If you come to our ED and we think you can be seen elsewhere you may be redirected to another care provider."

The long wait times follows a post from yesterday where UHS asked residents to consider other options, saying again yesterday that the department was facing "extreme pressure".
The Trust continues to ask locals to go to the Urgent Treatment Centres at the Royal South Hants Hospital and Lymington New Forest Hospital for non life or limb threatening symptoms, as these wards can deal with urgent but non-life-threatening issues.
People needing medical help or advice are also being encouraged to call NHS 111 or visit the service online, while local community pharmacies can provide support and treatment for a wide range of minor illnesses.
