The film tells the story of the Garrity family, who embark on a journey across Europe after a comet has hit the Earth.
The cast filmed in Alton on May 7, 2024, after a week of preparation to create the set.
A wall of missing people posters was created on a high street building, and Market Square was fenced off for equipment and lighting.
Dozens of trailers, including one trailer labelled John Garrity, Gerard Butler’s character, arrived in Anstey Park on May 6.
Filming began in the UK in April until the middle of June when it moved to Iceland for the film’s final shots.
The original Greenland film grossed £41m worldwide with a production budget of £27m.
The sequel is directed by Ric Roman Waugh, and stars Gerard Butler, Morena Baccarin, Roman Griffin Davis, Amber Rose Revah and Sophie Thompson.
It will hit cinemas on January 9, 2026.
