Theatre lovers are set to enjoy a fresh way of experiencing world-class performances.

From January 2026, Fareham Live will begin screening productions from National Theatre Live, starting with a broadcast of Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

The screenings will take place in a purpose-built theatre rather than a traditional cinema, offering audiences a more immersive and theatrical viewing experience.

Sheena Hulme, theatre director at Fareham Live, said: "Hosting National Theatre Live in a purpose-built theatre gives our audiences something genuinely special.

"The blend of world-class performances on screen with the ambience of a live venue creates an experience that’s both intimate and spectacular.

"Launching with Hamlet is a perfect way to introduce this new offering to Fareham."

The broadcast of Hamlet will launch a season of screenings at Fareham Live, with more productions to follow throughout 2026.

The programme will feature a mix of contemporary drama, classic plays, and new work from leading voices in UK theatre.
