A EUROPEAN restaurant has announced it will be closing after ten years.

Truffles Bistro in Fareham will shut permanently in just over a month amid rising operational costs.

The restaurant, opened by husband-and-wife team James and Jemma, offered freshly prepared dishes using locally sourced ingredients and a high-end seasonal menu.

In a message shared on their social media account, the couple said: “It is with great sadness and a heavy heart to announce that Truffles will be closing permanently on January 31 due to rising operational costs.”

They said that despite their best efforts to adapt, increasing expenses have made it “unsustainable to continue operations”.

They added: “[We] wish to thank all our customers for their support over the last 10 years and understanding.”

The public has shared their sadness at the closure. One person said: “So sorry to hear this, but we understand the challenges running a small business brings.

“We have enjoyed wonderful and creative food whenever we have eaten at Truffles. Thank you for all that you have offered over the years."

The restaurant will close on January 31 and will take a Christmas break from December 21 until January 6.
