A family business is marking 45 years of success with fresh growth and new ambitions.
Southern Power Tools, based in Lee-on-the-Solent, has launched a new e-commerce platform, Insulated Hand Tools, offering a range of safety-certified, 1000V-rated insulated tools for professionals in the electrical industry.
Founded by Peter Bartlett in 1979, the company supplies the trade, utilities and industrial sectors with power tools and specialist equipment.

Peter Bartlett, founder and managing director of Southern Power Tools, said: "Little could I have known when we first opened the doors of our then micro business back in 1980 that I would now be writing this and welcoming the 3rd generation of the family into the fold, a very proud moment.
"Battling through many challenges through the years, including many recessions and the pandemic, has meant us being flexible and resilient.
"This has been possible through great teamwork and, in particular, in more recent years, my son Drew's ability to seek new markets in specialist areas, which continue to grow.
"These include our range of support services as standard.
"I realise I am a little biased, but I believe our offering is unrivalled in our areas of expertise and have great pride in what we now stand for."
The 45th anniversary also marks a special family milestone, with Peter’s granddaughter Sophie Bartlett joining the company, becoming the third generation to help shape its future.

Drew Bartlett, director, said: "Reaching 45 years in business is a huge milestone for us, but seeing my daughter Sophie become the third generation of Bartlett to join Southern Power Tools makes it even more special.
"Knowing she’s gaining experience across the business – from accounts to warehousing and procurement – just fills me with pride.
"All the hard work has always been about building something for my family, and this is exactly what it’s all about."
Southern Power Tools is known for industry partnerships and its proprietary Sureduct Tool, a duct rod cutter invented by Drew, now widely used across the UK utilities sector.
