The Charity Commission is investigating a theatre company in Fareham.
A statutory inquiry into the governance of Titchfield Festival Theatre Limited began after a complaint about its activities was received in May 2024.
It comes after the company lost a High Court appeal against an order to close one of its venues in April 2025, after the £1.7 million development was built without planning permission.
The commission looked at issues related to accounting information, outstanding accounts, and possible conflicts of interest.
These concerns led to the inquiry being opened on November 27, 2025.

The commission said it would specifically examine how the theatre is managed.
This includes financial controls, how trustees handle conflicts of interest, and whether there has been any personal gain for trustees or people linked to them.
The inquiry will also look at how trustees manage the charity's relationships with related entities.
The Charity Commission said it can extend the inquiry’s scope if other regulatory issues emerge.
After the commission has concluded its inquiry, it will publish a report detailing the issues examined, any action taken, and the inquiry’s outcomes.
