One of Europe’s most popular cruise ships is set to make its long-awaited debut in Southampton next month.

Mein Schiff 2 will arrive at the port for the first time on May 12, marking a significant moment for the city’s thriving cruise industry.

Operated by TUI Cruises, the ship was launched in 2019 and is one of the largest in the fleet, carrying close to 4,000 passengers and crew.

Despite Southampton being the UK’s busiest cruise port, the vessel has never previously called at the city.

That is set to change next month, with multiple visits scheduled throughout the summer, including stops in June, July, August and September.

The ship, which has sailed to destinations including Germany, Mallorca, France and Italy, will join sister vessel Mein Schiff 3 as a regular visitor.

Its arrival is expected to provide a boost to the local economy and waterfront activity.
