Anime classic Akira set to be screened at Vue Eastleigh

Anime cult classic Akira is making a return to the big screen.

Vue Eastleigh will begin screening the film on Friday, April 17.

Akira was originally released in 1988 and is set in a dystopian Neo-Tokyo following a third world war.

It follows a group of  bikers whose lives are upended after one of them, Tetsuo, encounters a mysterious boy and is taken by the military to an experimental research facility.

Akira has since become a milestone in animation, celebrated for its complex narrative and stunning visual design.
