A teenager has been charged with wounding with intent following reports of a serious assault in Southampton.

The incident occurred on Exford Avenue on Tuesday, April 21, when another boy was hospitalised with knife wounds.

Just before 8pm, officers were called to the area near the One Stop following an altercation between two 17-year-old boys.

One boy was found with a cut to his arm and was taken to the hospital for treatment. His injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening or life-changing.

A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said: “Following a thorough investigation, a 17-year-old boy from Southampton has been charged with wounding with intent and possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place.”

He has been remanded to appear at Southampton Youth Court today.

The police spokesperson added: “We understand incidents of this nature can cause concern within the community.

“Officers are continuing patrols in the area today, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to speak with them.”
