A teenage boy has been arrested after a 14-year-old girl suffered a fractured jaw in a crash involving an e-bike in Southampton.

Police said the girl suffered a fractured jaw, a forehead laceration and damage to her teeth after the bike collided with a tree branch in Tanner’s Brook, near Lords Hill Way, at around 1.20pm on Saturday, May 9.

Hampshire Constabulary said the girl had been sitting on the handlebars while the bike was being ridden along a footpath when the collision happened.

A 15-year-old boy from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and causing serious injury by careless driving.

He has since been released under investigation.

Officers said the bike, believed to have been an e-bike, was removed from the scene before police arrived.
