A free event is being held to encourage more people to become foster carers.

Hampshire Fostering LIVE! is coming to Places Leisure Centre in Eastleigh on Saturday, May 16.

Hampshire County Council is behind the event, which runs from 10am to 1pm. It is open to individuals, couples, and families interested in fostering.

The event coincides with Foster Care Fortnight 2026 (May 11 to 24), which highlights the realities and impact of fostering.

The aim is to provide safe, supportive homes for children and young people across the county.

Visitors can meet experienced social workers, current foster carers, and specialist support staff.

Visitors can also learn about different types of fostering, training, allowances, and finances.

There will be guidance on how fostering can fit around various household circumstances, including the assessment process and home preparation.

The event is a drop-in and requires no booking. Places Leisure Centre is within walking distance of Eastleigh train station.
