A popular Southampton cruise ship has been given a top hygiene rating after an inspection.
The Disney Dream scored 97 out of 100 in a recent hygiene inspection by the CDC, despite inspectors uncovering a surprising list of maintenance and food-safety issues across the vessel.
Among the most notable findings was a metal fragment that broke off an ice machine and fell into guest ice at a Deck 11 beverage station.

Inspectors also flagged cracked ice-machine components in several galleys and discovered a food worker preparing waffles without changing gloves after touching shared refrigerator handles, creating a potential cross-contamination risk.
Elsewhere, inspectors found fruit flies near an ice cream station and buffet, coffee grounds trapped in poorly sealed equipment, and condensation dripping along a hot food line.
Despite the lengthy report, most violations were corrected immediately, helping the ship retain a strong inspection score under the CDC’s Vessel Sanitation Program.
