The crowd standing in the bowl at the home of Southampton FC were treated to nearly 90 minutes of the very best stage performance as Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd rocked through Sunday night.

It fell to Tom to remind the screaming, jumping audience that McFly had been going for 23 years. Yet the wide age range in the crowd - including youngsters at their first stadium gig - proved the British band still pulls in the numbers, while the energy at St Mary’s showed they continue to deliver.
Fireworks lit up the night sky with Kiss track God Gave Rock 'n' Roll To You II blasting out across the stadium to end McFly's set.

Just before they started the crowd had first been warmed up by singer-songwriter Sophie Ellis-Bextor, who had to pause her set when a fan near the front needed aid from stewards.
Paths were cleared for the stricken concert-goer but then kitchen disco supremo Ellis-Bextor told all that the okay had been given. "Sometimes dancing can be a tonic," she said after getting the thumbs up all was well.
She had finished on Murder on the Dancefloor having accomplished her self-confessed aim to "seduce" the crowd and make them ready for McFly.

Scouting for Girls, whose frontman Roy Stride told all they were preparing their 20th anniversary tour next year, delivered I Wish I Was James Bond, Elvis Ain't Dead, This Ain't A Love Song and She's So Lovely with such aplomb they ratcheted up the atmosphere - pitting sections of the audience against each other for the noisemaking crown - ready for Ellis-Bextor.
Southampton duo Hot Sauce said they had lived their dream in performing at St Mary's less than a year after forming - playing after city-based Myriad, who had kicked off what was the second night music at the stadium following Let's Rock on Saturday.
