Families using Hedge End's popular paddling pool are being warned that anyone caught using water balloons will be asked to leave immediately.
The warning from the town council comes after staff found discarded balloon fragments littering the site.
Hedge End Town Council says the balloons continue to be left in and around the pool despite clear signs banning their use.
In a statement, the council said: "Water balloons are a safety hazard and can cause serious issues."

They continued: "They block filters, small pieces of plastic are harmful to wildlife and can be a hazard to young children, and they create extra cleaning work and look unsightly, littering the area.
"Anyone found using water balloons will be asked to leave immediately."
Visitors are being urged to follow the rules and help keep the paddling pool clean, safe and enjoyable for everyone throughout the summer.
