An unknown yob slashed twelve tyres on one street last night in a senseless attack on city centre residents.
Car alarms woke neighbours of Ordnance Road at around 10:30pm Monday, and they found six cars with slashed tyres.
A 33-year-old carer finishing a night shift at a supported-living home could not drive home and waited more than two hours for a repair van.
The woman, who asked to remain anonymous, told The Echo she saw the back of a running man turning the far corner as she entered the street.
A 26-year-old tech worker took the day off to have his Mercedes AMG repaired.
He said: “I don’t know what kind of person would do this, it has just caused so much frustration for us today.
“I’ve had to take the day off work to sort it out.
“We all thought it was ridiculous, who would do this? What would motivate someone?
“Just a horrible person.”
Police have launched an investigation following the incident.

All the victims have reported the attack, and police are combining their evidence into one investigation.
The damaged vehicles included a Volkswagen, Citroen, Hyundai Tucson, Vauxhall, Mini Cooper and Mercedes AMG.

A 51-year-old Ordnance Survey mapper said the attack had one silver lining.
He said: “At least it has been quite neighbourly.
“You rarely get a chance to speak with your neighbours these days, and I’ve really felt a sense of camaraderie.”

A colleague and fellow victim said: “The whole street’s been written off.”
Residents said a possible attacker fled between 10pm and 11pm after setting off several car alarms. Police were first called at 10.20pm.
One resident said: “It must have been a dare, or he was completely out of his mind.
“What else would cause him to do this?
"He gained nothing by it and now the police are after him.”
