New Forest residents have been warned of disruption to bin collections as the A31 closure and hot weather put pressure on services.

New Forest District Council said all crews were out on Wednesday, August 12, with the majority of collections taking place.

However, congestion caused by the ongoing A31 closure is affecting collection rounds, while high temperatures are expected to create further pressure on the service for the rest of the week.

The council said crews would return to missed collections where operationally possible and asked residents to report any missed collections through its website.

Collections will also start earlier than usual from Wednesday to Friday due to the high temperatures and amber heat-health alert.

Residents are being asked to put their bins out by 5am on collection day.

Those who normally receive an early collection are advised to put bins out the evening before, ideally no earlier than 6pm.

The changes apply to all waste and recycling collections.
