A Jaguar driver caught speeding at 76mph through a 50mph restriction on the M27 has been banned from driving for six months.

Emanuil Herchi, 37, of Langtry Court, Bursledon, admitted exceeding the temporary speed limit on the eastbound carriageway between junctions 9 and 11 near Fareham on May 24, 2025.

Southampton Magistrates' Court heard Herchi was detected travelling at 76mph, 26mph above the limit.

He was disqualified from driving for six months, fined £650 and ordered to pay £130 in court costs and a £260 victim surcharge.

Magistrates took his guilty plea into account when passing sentence.

The court heard arguments that a driving ban would cause Herchi hardship. However, magistrates ruled the impact was not "exceptional" enough to avoid disqualification under the totting-up rules.

Herchi was ordered to pay the full amount by September 5.

The case was heard and concluded on August 6.
