Some of UK's biggest ships in Southampton this weekend

Southampton is set for a busy week of cruise ship arrivals this weekend with eight vessels due to call at the port.

The first arrival will be Marina on Friday, September 4, with the ship scheduled to remain in port from 6am until 6pm.

Saturday will see four cruise ships visit, including MSC Virtuosa, Queen Mary 2, Iona and Ventura.

MSC Virtuosa is due to arrive at 6am and depart at 8pm, while Queen Mary 2 is scheduled to stay from 6.15am until 5pm.

Iona and Ventura are both listed with arrival and departure times yet to be confirmed.

On Sunday, Arvia and Queen Anne are expected, followed by Majestic Princess on Monday, September 7.

The ships will bring thousands of passengers to the city as Southampton's cruise season continues into September.

Drivers are being warned the waterfront are a will be busy.
