A school pupil who was allegedly in a sexual relationship with his PE teacher has told jurors he was almost caught when he slapped her bottom at school.
Jurors were told on Friday of an alleged incident in which the teenage boy said he and Bronwen James had been flirtatious at school, and he had almost been caught slapping her on the bottom while they were putting away equipment.
Former Bitterne Park School PE teacher James, 30, is on trial at Winchester Crown Court charged with four counts of sexual activity with a child while in a position of trust.
She denies all the charges.
Referring to the incident, Heather Stangoe, defending, said: "I would like to ask you about when you slapped Bronwen James's bottom. Your account in your interview is that you slapped her bottom and a teacher caught you."
The complainant replied: "I said almost.
"If they caught us, I would not be sat here right now; it would have been dealt with."

Ms Stangoe also questioned the complainant about the quality of his recollection of events, particularly the layout of the upstairs of James' home.
He claimed he had not been asked by police for a detailed layout of the upstairs of the house.
During Friday's hearing, the complainant also admitted he had lied to police about the relationship before they first had sex because he wanted it to continue.
The evidence came as the defence continued its cross-examination of the complainant.
Previously, the boy described the alleged relationship as a "teenage dream" at the time.
The court has also heard the complainant called James "miss" and said she always wanted him to address her that way.
James, now of Lytham Close, Chippenham, denies all four charges.
The trial was adjourned until Monday, when evidence is due to continue.
