A tough game to start for the Blue Squad against a very good Bashley side, containing 7 players from our Rep Squads last year, who are currently unbeaten in U12 Division 2.

The Blue Squad started brightly against Bashley, coping well at the back and giving the Bashley back 4 plenty to think about and they were rewarded on five minutes after some good work down the left, Jake Hoole produced an excellent cross that was met by Alex Cusick who fired the ball passed Alfie Coe in the Bashley goal.

The game was fairly well balanced and five minutes later Bashley got the equaliser, a well struck shot from Caelan Dillon into the far corner giving James Needle no chance in the Tyro goal.

It wasn’t long before Bashley took the lead, when a shot was fired in from outside the Tyro box Caelan’s control and turn was stunning and his shot flew into the top corner from 12 yards, again giving James no chance.

Despite falling behind Tyro continued to play good football, keeping the ball well, they created a few good chances but unfortunately for Tyro Alfie was in good form keeping them out.

In the second 20 minute period Bashley came into the game more and created more problems for Tyro but the back 4 of Jack, Ben and the 2 Matt’s coped well with the pressure.

The pressure eventually told when Owen Randell Prince got the third for Bashley to make it 3-1.

After making a few changes at the break, Tyro came out for the third period looking more like they did in the first, Ryan, Tom and Luke were busy in the middle of midfield winning plenty of the ball and Tyro almost pulled one back when Jake was put in down the left he lifted the ball over Alfie from outside the box only to see his effort just miss the target.

At the other end James Needle was kept busy by the Bashley forwards but he was equal to everything making some good saves and keeping Tyro in the game.

A good performance and a good start for Tyro against a very good Bashley side. It was nice to see a lot of what we work on in training coming through in a game situation.

The side held their shape well; they were disciplined and always looked to play good, passing football.

Thanks to Bashley Under 12's for their part in a very competitive & entertaining game.
