THE Queen’s representative in Hampshire has appointed a new batch of Deputy Lieutenants.
They will assist the Lord Lieutenant, Mary Fagan, pictured, in her duties across the county.
The seven deputies were presented with their commissions at the Great Hall in Winchester.
They are Sir Peter Cresswell, a retired High Court judge; Damon de Laszlo, a businessman and patron of Treloar School and College, Alton; Rear Admiral John Lang, a member of the board of governors of Southampton Solent University; Lady Wakeham, patron of Home-Start Winchester; Peter Robertson, formerly chief executive of Hampshire County Council; Rosemary Spedding, director of the Winchester Festival; and Lt Gen Sir Freddie Viggers.
Deputy Lieutenants are appointed by the Lord Lieutenant at her discretion, subject only to Her Majesty The Queen not disapproving of the granting of the commission.
