CONTROVERSIAL plans to open a pizza takeaway near Romsey’s Plaza Theatre have been thrown out.
Councillors unanimously rejected St James Developments International proposals for 42 Winchester Road.
Planners received 64 letters of objection to the scheme from residents in the area – many concerned about possible noise, antisocial behaviour and inadequate parking facilities in the neighbourhood.
Concern about cooking smells emanating from the premises also caused concern had the scheme got a green light.
