A HAMPSHIRE engineer who smashed the world land speed record for a wind powered vehicle is due back home this weekend.
Richard Jenkins became the fastest naturally powered human on the planet when he clocked 126.1mph in the Ecotricity Greenbird.
He set the record in the futuristic craft on the dry bed of Lake Ivanpah, on the border of California and Nevada, in the US, last month.
The 30-year-old is due to be welcomed back a hero at his home town of Lymington, in the New Forest, this weekend.
