THE Saints fan who tried to buy AFC Bournemouth last year has dramatically emerged as a key man in a rival bid to the one including Dell legend Matt Le Tissier.
The Daily Echo understands that Dorset businessman Marc Jackson has peiced together a consortium aiming to take control at St Mary’s.
Jackson had been told his group were in pole position to table a bid that would have been accepted by administrator Mark Fry.
Jackson is known to Fry’s company, Begbies Traynor, as he worked with the group in fronting a consortium when Bournemouth went into administration in 2008.
Though known by Rupert Lowe given previous work Jackson had done at St Mary’s, it is not believed the latter’s consortium includes the controversial former Saints chairman or any of his one-time board supporters.
Jackson was shocked yesterday morning to discover there was a rival bid, believed to be property developers fronted by Tony Lynam of Pinnacle Property Consultants Limited.
That is the group which Saints legend Le Tissier has attached his name to.
