AN elderly man has died after crashing his car into railings outside a Hampshire college this morning.
The man, in his 70s, was driving a silver car that smashed into railings outside Peter Symonds College in Winchester at around 5.40am.
Emergency services raced to the incident in Stoney Lane but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road was closed following the incident causing traffic delays through the city.
A police spokesman said an investigation into whether the man died as a result of the collision or from a medical condition was now under way.
Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
