IT wasn’t the usual cry for help they respond to, but when disabled pensioner Peggy Fagan needed her car dug out of the snow, the Army swung into action.
The disabled 82-year-old thought of her car as he lifeline. So when her garage was unable to pick up the vehicle for more modifications due to the heavy snow, Peggy called in the big boys.
She called Blighmont TA centre in Millbrook who despatched Staff Sgt Pete Perfect and Sgt John Hales.
Within an hour they had dug the vehicle out. The great-grandmother from Bitterne said: “I am so grateful to them, they are my heroes.”
