VISITORS to a Winchester supermarket had a chance to see demonstrations of the "jaws of life".
Hampshire firefighters gave demonstrations of their skills and specialist rescue equipment during a series of public displays at Tesco in Easton Lane, Winnall.
The aim was to raise awareness of the extrication team which represents the fire service at national and international rescue competitions - as well as saving lives. Donations were also taken for the Fire Service National Benevolent Fund and the team raised £486.
Dave Graham, leading firefighter at Winchester fire station, said: "The team is hoping to travel to New York later this year to take part in a number of demonstrations and competitions. We hope this event has raised further funds to support this trip."
