HAMPSHIRE businessman Robert Lister is all set to make a big splash in the UK's premier powerboat racing championship this summer.

Rob, who runs Southampton-based property developer Solent Projects, has entered the Honda Formula 4-Stroke series with teammate William Nocker under the banner of Fat Boy Racing.

With a new 225hp powerboat, they will face their first competitors at the Scottish Grand Prix of Largs on May 28 and 29 in the seventh season of the world's largest offshore powerboat series.

The powerboats race at up to 70mph - a punishing speed on water - which racers say is the equivalent of 200mph on land. The contest consists of five rounds and 14 teams, and the Fat Boys have their sights set high.

"We want to finish in the top three in this year's championship - we won't settle for anything else," said Rob.

The team supporters will be able to follow their progress on Channel 4 or via www.fatboyracing.co.uk
