Sir.-I would like to heartily commend the actions of Overton-based HART Wildlife Rescue.
I recently found a fledgling blackbird, which had obviously fallen out of its nest, in my front garden one evening.
Not knowing what else to do with it, and believing urban legends that it wouldn't be able to survive out of the nest, I was going to try to put it out of its misery.
However, my other half persuaded me it might be okay and we nursed it through the night, feeding it every few hours on cat food.
The next day I found the details for HART Wildlife Rescue in the directory and took the bird there. A helpful lady who took the bird in explained about the organisation and the valuable work it does in saving many birds, badgers, rabbits etc that would otherwise die.
I have since become a member and cannot sing the organisation's praises enough.
I would be grateful if readers would also take the time to check out the website at www.hartwild life.org.uk and bear it in mind if they encounter any sick or injured animals.
Like the baby blackbird I found, it could all make the difference between life and death.
