PARISH council: Last Monday's meeting saw some movement in seating.

The new chairman of the parish council is Chris Tomblin while former chairman Martin Adams moves over to become vice-chairman.

We wish both councillors a successful term of office.

The meeting welcomed residents from Martin's Wood, who came to express concern about some of the proposals regarding enhancement of the nearby play area.

It was agreed that a small group of resident representatives would meet with borough officers to look at how the scheme might be modified in order to provide improvements, while not having an unduly negative impact on the surrounding area.

A youth representative also suggested that there was a lot of interest in a cycle "dirt track".

Possible locations and support are to be considered by the parish leisure committee.

Congratulations to Cllr Elaine Still for acquiring another hat in her new role as county councillor for the Loddon division, which includes Chineham.

CHARITY collection: Christ Church, Reading Road, sends clothes and household goods to families living in poverty in Romania with the local charity Street Children Aid Pro Deo.

In June, another lorry will be ferrying goods out.

However, they are presently in desperate need of the following: rice, pasta, flour, sugar, salt, cooking oil, coffee, pulses, biscuits, tins of fruit and vegetables.

If you are able to donate any of these items, leave them with Ruth Randall in the parish office.

2-HAVE, 2-Hold: This month and next month Christ Church, in conjunction with the Community Church, will be running a marriage course for couples in Chineham and the wider community.

The course will be run over four weeks, with the first session being next Wednesday, at Christ Church, starting at 8pm.

For further details, contact Ruth Randall by popping into the parish office, telephoning 474280 or e-mailing admin@christchurchchineham.org

MOBILE library: At Chineham Village Hall car park on Thursday, from 4pm until 4.20pm.
