DETECTIVES on the Isle of Wight are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist suffered serious leg injuries following a head-on crash with a Peugeot estate car in Newchurch on Saturday.
The rider, a 28-year-old man from Ryde, sustained serious leg injuries, a broken pelvis and a ruptured spleen. He was taken to St Mary's Hospital.
The driver of the Peugeot - a 58-year-old man from Ventnor - was treated for severe shock at the scene of the crash.
The driver of a Citroen van, which was also involved, was uninjured.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to call 0845 045 4545.
