STROMENTI String Quartet, Boscombe's resident professional string quartet led by Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra co-leader Jack Maguire, returns to St Clement's Church for another series of concerts this spring and summer, with some exciting new features to attract the music lover.

The series begins on Tuesday and promises to be a very atmospheric evening - Mozart by candlelight. Ken Shelley, formerly of Birmingham Rep, will present the concert.

Other concerts include international guitar soloist Stephen Kenyon on May 31. He will be the soloist in a programme that includes the Boccherini Quintet, the Adagio from the Concerto de Aranjuez by Rodriguez and Vivaldi's Guitar Concerto.

Popular classics are featured on Tuesday, June 7, with arrangements by Frank Leprince and a tribute to the composer Ronald Binge. If you are trying to choose music for your wedding, be sure not to miss the concert on Tuesday, June 14, when Stromenti presents Midsummer Marriage.

To round off the series, on Tuesday, June 28 the quartet's legendary cellist Joseph Koos, formerly the splendidly flamboyant principal cellist with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, gives a recital with Gillian Jenkins (piano), including music by Vivaldi, Frescobaldi, Beethoven, Handel,Elgar, Popper and Granados.

Stromenti's concerts have earned a reputation for their informality and humour, and this series promises to be equally relaxed. The musicians introduce and explain the music in an engaging manner. For ticket details contact 01202 773587.
