YOU can't help but wonder what is going through Jamie Redknapp's mind during this brief lull in training at Staplewood yesterday.

Like his former England colleague, Graeme Le Saux, Redknapp could well be making his professional football swansong at St Mary's when Manchester United roll into town.

Redknapp's contract is up at the end of the season and he is expected to announce his retirement if Saints are relegated to the Championship.

Elsewhere, tomorrow's match could be the last in Saints colours for many others - Henri Camara will return to parent club Wolves, Olivier Bernard is out of contract and, like Redknapp, is unlikely to want to play at a lower level, while Antti Niemi and Kevin Phillips are expected to be courted by Premiership clubs if Saints' 27-year run in the top flight is ended.

Like his father, Jamie has never been relegated from the Premiership. But that fate has befallen other Saints - Rory Delap and Danny Higginbotham went down with Derby in 2001, Paul Telfer went down with Coventry the same year and Phillips with Sunderland 12 months later.
