MAKE it a super Saints Sunday. Cheer them loud and proud - there has never been a more vital time to shout for the Saints.

As Harry's lads take a final stand against relegation on Sunday, fans across Hampshire have to send a massive cry of support for one of the most crucial matches in the club's history.

Saints need the fantastic support that has previously rocked St Mary's stadium, to take hold of the city and strike fear into visiting side Manchester United.

Fighting the dreaded drop until the very end, Saints have brought the battle for survival down to the wire, with late goals in their last two games keeping everyone's hope resting on the final result of the season.

Looking for a 28th successive season in top-flight football, fans across the city can back the team by turning Southampton red and white, and making this Sunday a Super Saints day.

Giving their support, 230 pupils at Ludlow Infant School swapped their uniforms and timetables for a 'Come on You Saints' day.

The pupils aged four to seven came to school in their true red and white colours, with many of the girls dressing as Harry's Angels, complete with wings and halos, to bring the team every bit of luck.

Head teacher Jeannie Gibbons said: "All the pupils have been fantastic.

"As well as showing support for the team, it gives the children a sense of identity for the city they live in, and the atmosphere here in school is really amazing."

Rallying the call for Saints pride in Bitterne is hairstylist Emma Bungay.

After Hampshire's Radio 1 DJ Rob da Bank lent his support in the Daily Echo, Emma said she too would take the chop and eat her hair if the team get relegated.

The 23 year-old stylist of Haircut 4U Sir? in Bitterne Road, Southampton, said: "They have had a bad season but we all really need to get behind them now.

"And if Rob da Bank says he'll eat his ponytail, then I'll be happy to give him the haircut and join him in eating my own hair if we lose."

Emma said the first ten customers showing their Saints pride by wearing the team colours this weekend will get a discount.

Also hungry for victory tomorrow is BLT's The Sandwich Shop in Commercial Road, Southampton who have teamed up with the Daily Echo to create giant Saints sarnies - nicknamed by shop staff 'Goal Mouths'.

Ahead of British Sandwich Week, beginning on Monday, shop owner Susan Czajkowski said: "Although we no longer have the Dell up the road we still see a lot of Saints fans.

"We've certainly catered for their hangovers on Mondays when there has been a Sunday match and tomorrow's match is certainly important to the whole town," she added.

Do you think you can make a better sandwich than Susan's Goal Mouth sarnie?

During British Sandwich Week the Daily Echo wants to hear from sandwich makers across the region who believe they are a lord of the lunch box or saviour of the sarnie.
