May 76: Saints' greatest ever day May 05: Can history repeat itself?
THE late Bobby Stokes fires the most famous goal in Saints' 125-year history.
Now, though, comes a game on a par with the FA Cup final on May 1 1976 - also against Manchester United.
And it's a Premiership D-Day encounter which promises anyone who repeats Stoke's magic moment their own chapter in Saints folklore - providing the club avoids a cataclysmic drop into the Championship.
Wembley legend Mick Channon insists Saints have never had a bigger occasion outside the Twin Towers than this Sunday's.
"If '76 was the biggest cup tie we have played, Sunday's is the biggest league game of them all," said Channon. "It's now or never."
