WHITCHURCH residents have done it again and managed to save the town's much-needed services.
This week Royal Mail announced it will not be going ahead with the proposal to transfer Whitchurch deliveries to Basingstoke.
It was only nine months ago residents, through demonstrations and petitions, Whitchurch residents managed to persuade Tesco to keep the Post Office.
Now they have been able to retain their delivery office too.
Jane Thomas, from Royal Mail said: "Having evaluated the suggested move and listened to input received from our people and our customers, we have decided to keep Whitchurch Delivery Office where it is.
"All 16 staff at Whitchurch Delivery Office have been told the news after it was decided the move would not deliver the benefits to Royal Mail, its customers and employees that we first envisaged."
