ANDOVER MP Sir George Young is hoping that his complaints about queues at the town's main Post Office will soon be addressed.

When Sir George went past the Post Office in Bridge Street in April he noticed queues spilling out in to the street.

He said: "I was concerned at the length of time people were having to wait, and so I took the matter up with the Post Office.

"I was pleased to get a reply from the network performance manager, confirming that it is unreasonable for customers to have to wait longer than 10 minutes for service in normal circumstances.

"There was a particular problem on the day that I went past, as there was a 26 per cent increase in the number of customers, when compared to the same time on an average mid-month Thursday.

"A new branch manager has recently moved into this branch, and is reviewing the working practices of the branch, and revised duty schedules are being introduced.

"I hope this means that queuing times will be reduced, and that branches will be able to react quickly to unexpected peaks of demand."
