LYMINGTON & New Milton manager Ian Robinson faces five more sleepless nights before his team host Gosport Borough at Fawcetts Field next weekend knowing that victory will give the friendly Foresters a fifth Wessex League championship.

"I can't tell you anything about the game other than the goalscorers," smiled Robinson following their 5-0 derby success against Christchurch.

"To be honest the whole game passed me by. I knew what was going on at Winchester with them first losing and getting back on terms again, it's all been quite emotional.

"When I first arrived here 22 months ago we didn't even have a team," added Robinson. "So to be in this position is a magnificent achievement and it would be wonderful if we could go on and win it on Saturday.

"It's all set up, my coach Dave Taviner here against his old club for the title, but I've got a week of sleepless nights before then!" added Robinson.

The lofty Linnets were home and hosed before half time after two-goal Michael Jackson, Sam Carter and Trefor Smith powered them into a 4-0 interval lead, with Jackson completing his hat-trick on the hour.

It's going right down to the wire at the bottom as well after Portland United were sunk 6-0 at Cowes Sports - two-goal Matt Bowler, Michael Pointer, Simon Bonser, Ollie Buckett and James Butt doing the damage.

That result means that Hamble ASSC can escape the hangman's noose if they win their final match at Bemerton HH and Portland lose at Fareham Town.

Hamble boss Danny Bowers said: "It's been a nail-biting day but I deliberately didn't go over to the game because I didn't want to be seen and give Portland an extra incentive!"

Third-placed Gosport threw away a 2-0 lead and were held 2-2 by Wimborne Town, who missed out on all three points when 'Boro keeper Colin Matthews saved a last-minute penalty.

Neil Scammell (46) and Graham Lindsey (51) put the home side ahead only for the Magpies to strike back through Stuart Cannie (56) and Marcus Oldbury (82) before Warren Doyle saw his last-gasp spot kick saved.

Goals by Scott Bundy and Matty Monk saw Totton triumph 2-1 at Moneyfields to finish eighth in the league, the Moneymen replying with an 85th-minute penalty from Lee Mould.

Anthony Alleyne gave AFC Newbury the lead at BAT, who earned a point with a 57th-minute equaliser from Paul West, while ex-Saint Kevin Gibbens levelled for VTFC at home to Hamworthy after Ryan Lucas had put the Dorset side in front.

The Boatmen finished the game with ten men after Ian Calder was sent off for two yellow cards.

A four-goal salvo by top gun Jystin Bennett fired Andover to a 5-0 victory over Bournemouth Poppies, Bobby Swayne adding a fifth, while Brockenhurst also went nap against Alton Town. A Carl Foster brace plus efforts from James Guetling, Nick Kemp and Danny Mills made up the Badgers' quintet, Cav Ferris bagging the visitors' consolation.
