WHITES pleased manager Nick Holmes as they ended their away travels for this season with a 2-1 win at Hendon.

Holmes said: "This was a big battle on a bumpy pitch and our lads learned a little from last week's game against Harrow. We were a bit sloppy early on but we reacted much quicker today.

"Although conditions were difficult I was still a little bit disappointed with our football - I think that our speed of thought has to be quicker.

He added: "If I had my way the players wouldn't get a summer break!

"We had lots of travelling fans here today and it was good that at the end the lads went and celebrated the three points."

Whites conceded a soft goal on five minutes when Renee Street nipped in to head home from close range following a Shayne Demetrius free-kick, but the equaliser came when Wayne Turk hit a right-foot effort from just outside the box.

Salisbury dominated the second period with Tommy Widdrington, Mat Jones and Tim Bond all going close and Leigh Phillips flicking a header just wide. And, with ten minutes left, Jones scored his first goal in a Whites shirt with a difficult header from a Widdrington free-kick.
