FORMER Isle of White rider Ray Morton has revealed he went back to basics in a bid to get his season on the right track.
The evergreen 36-year-old, who lines up for Poole at home to Swindon in the Knockout Cup tonight (7.30pm), had really struggled to pick up points in Pirates' four previous matches before they went to Ipswich last week.
Indeed, he had grabbed only six paid seven from 13 outings against Arena-Essex and Belle Vue at home and Peterborough and Wolves away.
But he scorched back to form with an impressive season's-best haul of seven paid nine at Foxhall in Poole's 49-44 Elite League win.
Morton said: "Hopefully it will give me the confidence I have been missing because if I can get four or five I have done my job in the team. If I can score those points I know they will be happy with me. I believe I can still do it.
Tonight's teams, Pirates: 1 Bjarne Pedersen, 2 Krzysztof Kasprzak, 3 Matej Ferjan, 4 Antonio Lindback, 5 Ryan Sullivan, 6 Ray Morton, 7 Edward Kennett.
Swindon: 1 Leigh Adams, 2 Sebastian Alden, 3 Jonas Davidsson, 4 Charlie Gjedde, 5 Lee Richardson, 6 Sebastien Tresarrieu, 7 Mads Korneliussen.
