NO wonder these two teams are happy - they've just taken another step on the road towards a possible Drew Smith Group Southampton League hat-trick.

Bush Hill claimed their first trophy of a potential triple when they defeated Velmore 4-1 in the A Cup final at Stoneham Lane on Bank Holiday Monday.

Hill are also red hot favourites to win the Junior 2 title and are through to the semi-finals of the Ron Vallance Trophy.

Spar Tec Wessex were also celebrating on Monday when they edged past Junior 5 champions Monks Brook 2-0 in an exciting encounter.

Spar Tec have already clinched the Junior 4 championship and face Compton Reserves at Botley Rec this weekend for a place in the final of the League Cup.

In an evenly-contested final, Spar Tec took the lead five minutes before half-time when Al Smirk was adjudged to have handled in the penalty area and Lee Topley stepped up to slot home the spot kick

Minutes later Monks Brook had a great chance to equalise when the ball broke to John McMurray-Williams in a crowded goalmouth but he skied his shot over.

Monks Brook keeper Adam McCarthy pulled of a great diving save early in the second half from Lee Stevens to keep his team in the match.

But he was beaten a second time by one of his own defenders when an Ed Wheelhouse shot took a cruel deflection.

In the A Cup final Bush Hill, above left, romped to an easy 4-1 win over top flight Velmore.

Ryan Bainbridge put the Bushmen ahead on 18 minutes with a delightfully-flighted shot over keeper John Humphries.

The midfield was superbly marshalled by veteran dynamo Martin Asher and it was no surprise when Alan Skilton increased their lead, clinically firing home from the edge of the box on the half hour.

Velmore pulled one back five minutes before the break when Martin Alden headed home a Brett Hyde cross.

Man of the match Paul Boucher caught Humphries out to restore the two-goal margin and Danny King sealed the win when he broke through the over-stretched Velmore defence.

Velmore kept battling and were unlucky when a Brett Hyde free-kick shaved the post.
