Millbrook warned local rivals Southampton that they will not be in for an easy ride when they return to Hampshire 1 next season.

Dean Weaver's side scorched a strengthened city second XV with ten unanswered tries as they won their Easter local derby 56-0.

New signing Dave Lamb, who also received an enquiry from the Test Park outfit during the week, opened his account with a brace while former Saints lock John Frampton crossed twice as Millbrook scored tries at will.

Michael Phippard was another on the scoresheet twice to delight skipper Weaver, especially after Millbrook were on the receiving end of a similar hammering last season.

"We played some really good stuff, moving well and we punished them hard," he said.

While the result of the Tottonians-Trojans encounter was insignificant - Totts pulled off a comfortable 41-12 win - both sides took the chance to view a host of players in the run-up to the season's end.

The home side scored six tries to the visitors' two either side of the break and had much the better of the attacking. But Trojans gave them a decent game with the forwards competing positively.

"Trojans are a well-drilled side," said Totts skipper Paul Goodall. "It made for a good, entertaining game. However, everytime we got the ball, we looked like we were going to score."

Fareham Heathens hosted Welsh touring side Cardiff International Athletics Club, who scored a fine 30-7 win over a Hampshire One side made up of anyone who was available.

Surrey-based Old Freemen returned to the county for the annual Easter tour, but New Milton & District's Club XV, who just lost out 21-18, gave them a stiff examination.

In the end-to-end encounter, many players put themselves forward for their crucial league ending, which starts at home to Sandown & Shanklin next weekend.
