A Fareham granny has been rewarded as the oldest competitor in the REACT Games 2004.

Olga Nunn, 83, took part in, and won, the mixed-doubles over 65s table tennis event at the games which were recently held in Eastleigh.

The event saw over-50s from Bucking-hamshire, Berkshire and Hampshire compete against each other in short tennis, table tennis, badminton, racket ball, bowls and swimming.

The games were sponsored by Powergen and are aimed at encouraging older people to keep active.

Olga said: "Taking part in table tennis ensures I stay fit, healthy and feeling young.

"I'd like to encourage older people to take regular exercise if they are able to because it is not only good for your health but is also a great way to make new friends."

Shirley Goodey, who works for Powergen, said: "Olga just goes to prove that no matter how old you are anything is possible."
