AFTER the excitement generated by the Paralympics there's been a good deal of publicity about some of the sports played by the disabled.

Now the Hampshire Harriers Wheelchair Basketball Club are inviting people to become new members.

The Southampton-based club meet between 1 and 3pm on Sundays at the Chamberlayne Sports Centre in Weston Lane.

Club spokesman Geoff Green says: "You don't have to be a daily wheelchair user to take part. You just need to be keen to play a sport, have some fun, and improve your health and fitness in a sociable setting.

"At our level, men and women play alongside each other and we welcome all ages.

"We have some older wheelchairs for newcomers to try out and advice can be given on suitable chairs once you decide you like it."

The club's more experienced players play in Division 3 of the National League.
