Steve Harris 3, Ray Carver 3 and two from Trevor Whitelock saw the home side score an unexpected 9-1 victory. Only Phil Cook prevented a whitewash by beating Whitelock 8-11, 12-10, 11-8, 12-10. The match was by no means one-sided as five of the first six games went to the fifth set.
