NORTHAMPTON boss Colin Calderwood has warned Saints they face a tougher test in the FA Cup next month than they got earlier in the season.

Steve Wigley's side have been drawn against that of his good friend Calderwood for the second time this season - this time in the FA Cup third round.

The last time Saints travelled to the Sixfields Stadium in the Carling Cup in September they came away with a comfortable 3-0 win thanks to goals from Kevin Phillips, David Prutton and Neil McCann.

But Calderwood is convinced his side, currently tenth in League Two and beaten just one at home in the league all season, will put up more of a challenge for Saints this time round.

He said: "We will have a full-house at Sixfields and we will see if we can get a little bit closer to them this time.

"We never got going that night, and this time we have to make it a little bit more nervous for them.

"Southampton will be fairly happy with the draw. They know our pitch is a good pitch and they impressed themselves on our boys in the game earlier in the season.

"We have to try and reverse that situation.

"We simply have to do better than we did the last time we played them, and in that sense it is a little bit of a judgement on us to see how far we have come as a team."

The Cobblers got to the third round courtesy of a 1-0 win over Bury, 11-goal top scorer Scott McGleish netting the winner - as he had done in the first round 1-0 home win over League One club Barnsley.
