Debra wins national coaching award
The winners of the Sport England Coach of the Year Awards were announced this week with Debra Hampton from Botley coming out top in the Female Community Coach category.
Debra is the Community Sports Gymnastics Coach for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Sports Partnership.
The Sport England Coach of the Year Awards take place in order to reward and recognise the country's most dedicated coaches from grass roots to elite levels.
Debra has been a gymnastics coach for 28 years and has taken Dynamo School of Gymnastics, where she is currently working, to the local community with over 200 people being impacted by her work. She has also developed four separate pre-school centres in community halls with the view of attracting more people into the sport.
Debra Hampton said: "I am absolutely over the moon about winning this award. I aim to enrich the lives of those children that I coach gymnastics to. It is fantastic to have someone appreciate the work you are putting in."
