PALMERSTON make their debut in the reborn Famous Grouse Top Ten Classic this weekend.

The Fareham club never joined the original event but their growing stature has persuaded them that they are ready to compete at a higher level and they have signed up for the Folkestone tournament.

They are in a group of seven alongside fellow Hampshire association sides East Dorset and Victory, Dorset clubs Bournemouth and Dolphin, Sussex-based Arun and Five Rivers from Salisbury with the winners and runners-up going through to the finals.

Palmerston open on Sunday (Nov 14) against Bournemouth while East Dorset tackle Dolphin and Arun play Victory.

The majority of southern clubs have opted for Folkestone but Atherley and Banister Park have remained with Hull and were in a group of four. However, that number included Arun who have now pulled out in favour of the Folkestone event.

The withdrawal of the Bognor Regis club has left Atherley without a match this Sunday but Banister Park will be in action against Worthing. Atherley now open against Banister Park on Sunday, December 12. Only the winner from this section will head for the Yorkshire finals.
