The return of key players to the Gosport & Fareham ranks will offset some of the damage caused by last weekend's defeat as they welcome Beckenham to the peninsular tomorrow for their London Two South clash.

Scrum-half Gareth Slade-Jones is fit again having missed the trip to Old Mid-Whitgiftians after picking up an injury playing the previous evening for the Army Rugby League side. Navy pair Dane Smallbone and James Wagstaffe also reappear in the backs.

Brett Gamblin drops to the bench to allow Malcolm Wheeler the hooker's berth and Steve Emm continues - but in his preferred wing position.

The sides are only separated on points difference, having lost a game apiece, so much is resting on this match as they attempt to keep tabs on the leading pair - Portsmouth and Lewes.

"Neither side wants to lose this one," feels coach Sean Fanning. "It will be a tough game but we have three key players back and that will give us a big boost."

Leaders Portsmouth are forced into a couple of changes from the side that crushed Guildford but should still be too strong for troubled, winless Camberley.

The one main issue they will have is for a place kicker as Grant Erskine is at a wedding and Pete Wylie is a long-term injury absentee so the goal kicking duties could be shared about between Stuart McLaughlin, youngster Gareth Rowlands or skipper Neil Styles, who has been troubled with an ankle injury all season.

Matt Hawes and Rowlands come in to the backs and Alex Dyer sits on the bench, but Phil Jones is a doubt through injury.

Basingstoke, without a win in their three games since being relegated from the National League, must turn their season around but they will have a stern test against league-climbing London Scottish at Down Grange.
