A SIGNIFICANT expansion of the Museum of Army Flying at Middle Wallop is being planned and could open within three years.

The popular attraction is crammed to bursting point with exhibits and displays. The expansion, which will provide a 40 per cent increase in display space, will enable the facility to display more items and keep the museum up to date with current developments.

It will cost around £4.3 million and museum and Army Air Corps chiefs hope to obtain a £2 million boost for their project through lottery funding.

An appeal is planned to bring in the remainder of the money needed. It will tap into the goodwill generated by the museum among the AAC's many friends and admirers both in the UK and throughout the world.
